Inspired by the "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" series of landscape prints by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai.

Since 2015, this series of cask strength bottlings has been released in batches. Each batch took its name from a different print created during 1830-1832 by Katsushika Hokusai, a famous ukiyo-e artist who used the technique of woodblock printing to depict Mount Fuji, from different locations and in various seasons and weather conditions.

Each of the images was made through a process whereby an image drawn on paper was used to guide the carving of a wood block. This block was then covered with ink and applied to paper to create the image. The complexity of Hokusai's images includes the wide range of colors he used, which required the use of a separate block for each color appearing in the image.

The Karuizawa Fugaku Sanjurokkei series is currently at its 16th release until 2017. We here at WhiskyCiti have managed to assemble a collection of various batches over the years.
